Tom's first career was as a college professor at State University of New York, where he taught Public Speaking and was Director Of Theatre. He produced, designed and directed 50 productions, each of which received a standing ovation. He received the "Teacher Of The Year" award from the college chapter of The American Association Of University Professors in 1974. He has a Master's Degree in Interpersonal Communication.
He left teaching in 1985 to start his second career in the Resort Development Industry. He started as a salesperson on The Outer Banks Of North Carolina and advanced through positions to become Director Of Sales and then Project Director.
After a short term as National Sales Director for a publishing company in Norfolk, VA he was recruited by Fairfield Communities to join the corporate staff as a Resort Vice President in charge of training and manager development. He held similar positions at Cooper Communities, Orange Lake Country Club and Hilton Grand Vacations Club.
Having garnered a reputation as one of the top industry trainers, he started a training and consulting company in 1995, Tom Goetschius Associates. With Fractional Ownership gaining momentum, Tom saw a space where his "Relationship Approach To Sales" was embraced and it has proven to be the model for the industry. He has excelled in that space ever since, involved in over 60 Fractional and Private Residence Club projects in the Western Hemisphere and Europe as either a trainer or consultant.
